Feeling the awesome cold thru our feet has sent more of us packing than any wind or slow bite. Have my own foot kit, Arctic Fox boots with Thinsulate with 1 1/2" felt pads and pure Marinio? wool socks; what`s yours? Other than safety gear and poles, probably the most critical part of ice fishing....
I wear a single cottom sock and either 600 gram RedWing boots or 800 gram Rockies depending on what the day brings for temps.
1 pair of wool socks and military issue MICKY MOUSE boots. Best 100 dollars I ever spent. Now I need something as good for my fingers.
the mickey mouse boots i tried on at the military surplus store had me exhausted just walking down the empty .50 cal shell and camo netting isle.
LaCrosse IceMan boots and plain crew socks. Boots since 95 and worth every single penny. My feet have never been cold or wet. Mine are guaranteed that your feet won't get cold down to -100* and they were right!
i just have a nice pair of sorel's. i got them used off of ebay for like 25 bucks. i use them for my longer trips. i also have a nice pair of waterproof asolo's that are only 200 grams but if its just a short outing they are fine....and in the shack with my foam pad, i have no problems either.
just wear plain cotton socks.
