Trolling motor that is. I have a PD 55 with I pilot. New in April this year. We were just moving from stump to stump maybe 0.4mph at the most hit an under water stump and it cracked the shaft. It was still usable but we couldnt pull it up wouldnt slide up or down so thats where hillbilly enginering came into play. worked for a while longer but finally broke in 2.
Those shafts have a life time guarantee on them.
Bill is right, they will replace the shaft or maybe the TM, let 'em know about it!
yep , I broke one . the will give you one for free. because they have a lifetime warranty.I replaced mine .it is a booger to replace. it screws into the foot with pipe threads which is sealed. when you try to unscrew it it splinters. had to dig it out with a dental pick and a dremel. good luck . let me know if you find a better way to get it out.
I broke a Minn Kota Edge composite already.Was'nt very fun getting it back to the dock.They replaced it for free.
I use to have the directions for removing the shaft but can't find them. Best I remember is you remove the head first (1 bolt and nut), disconnect all the wires (make a diagram as to where they all go). The put the motor in a vise using just enough pressure to hold it. Heat the shaft with a heat gun where it goes into the motor and unscrew the shaft. I can't remember what it said to use to grip the shaft with for unscrewing. When you put the new one in be sure to use some type sealant.
How old is your tm? Might get it repaired for free by an authorized Service Tech instead of you changing the shaft out yourself.:o

Had this happen last month took mine to a service dealer in my town he replaced the shaft at know cost to me look at your warranty if you try and fix it yourself it may void warranty
Yes just find a service dealer & he should take care of it for you it worked for me when i broke mine. Jim C.
