windy day crappie and perch

I went out Sat. am to a spot I haven't hit since spring, got 8 nice crappie with the largest at 14 1/2" and 1lb.13oz.( a fat boy ) and the smallest was 10 1/2" also got 9 perch to 12" and 3 pickeral ,tough wind to fish in . Fished for 3 1/2hrs. water temp. 50-51 hot bait was a roadrunner with 2" chart. twister tail Went again on sun. water temp. dropped to 48-49 and even more windy got 1 crappie 5 yellow perch 3 more pickeral fished 1 1/2" till my battery died actually had to row against the wind the last bit to the ramp :( bet I'll check that battery next time LOL. Came in got cleaned up went the Delmarva discovery center in Pocomoke city with the family great place they even got atank with some crappie in it! Heres a pic of sats. catch .

Nice Job. I knew the perch would be in soon. I was showing them on my meter the other day in the channel, but they would not eat yet. 2 weeks and they should be eating up here.

I got the perch a little bit off of where the crappie were And I kept moving back to where the crappie were or I could have caught alot more perch probably. The crappie were a little scattered and acting funny but the size was good. Hopfully next weekend the wind won't be so bad. It was a good sports day too Ravens won and capitals won! I got a 5'6 st. croix ul you think that would be a good dock shooting rod?

That should be perfect. I generally don't like "trigger" reels, but for dock shooting they are (IMHO)better. I use a 2000 Spirex with 8lb Power Pro yellow

Power pro that brings up another ? I've never used braided line crappie fishing and was thinking of trying some, does it work good for regular casting and do you tie it directly to the lure or use a leader? I've only used braid for my toggin rods and ocean bottom fishing deep water for sea bass.

Tie right to lure without leader and works very well for casting. The only time I believe mono is better is when it is really windy and I'm dock shooting.

Where do you get the 8lb power pro ? seems most of our shops down her only have the heavier stuff.

I had to get it off Ebay - I got 150yds of the Yellow 8lb for $13.99 with free shipping. It was here in 3 days. He also has 5lb that I was thinking about trying.
