since my recent break in and was wandering if any of you guys have had any experience with these locks. I have a tiller honda 25 HP that has the handles for tightening down on the transom. any thoughts or experience on these would be greatly appreciated

You can buy a good locking system which has a bar covering the handles youre referring to. All I ever did was use a padlock locking the two handles together though.
have this on our outboard motor for the duck boat havent had any problems

That would probably be the most secure. Then again, if a fella wanted your O/B all he would need would be a set of heavy bolt cutters. If somebody is determined enough to plan in advance to bring bolt cutters, he's gonna get it anyway. Therefore, For that reason, I'd probably just go with a cable and a lock. Would still take bolt cutters to get it and would save you a few bucks.

From personal experience, if they want the motor bad enough, they'll steal the whole rig and dump the boat. A motor locking bar is a good idea. Also there are trailer locks that look like the wheel locks parking authorities in big cities put on cars when folks don't pay their parking tickets. They're big, yellow, and keep a trailer pretty secure. The chock lock is the name of one of them. It's a hassle, and it's sad that we have to go to so much trouble in order to keep what's rightfully ours. However, having experienced the feeling of walking outside to find your rig gone, the hassle is worth the protection.
Larry these work great!! my friend has one he lost the key over the years. It was heck to try and cut the old lock off. he gave up and said the heck with it and took the whole rig to the boat shop.Quote:
