Looking for some info
guys..looking into taking a few days over winter to head up to Wisconsin for a bit of ice crappie. Anyone have any places (Lodges/cabins) or guide services that they would recommend? Good lakes for crappie? any info would be greatly appreciated...Jason

Jason, log onto "IDOFISHING.COM. Like CDC it is a free site and it is mostly a Walleye site but also has good crappie info for Minnesota and Wisconsin. Again, like CDC, post your question and the folks there should help you out. Hope this helps you.

Having grown up in S Illinois, I relocated to MN for 6 years and really got into the ice fishing up there. While trying to learn many of the patterns in MN and Wis, I utilized the services of many qualified guides, but one individual stood well above the rest for his unique run and gun approach....that is Scott Steil (Scott Steil Fishing - ice fishing news, tips, advice, fishing adventures and stories). He fishes from MN, SD, Wis, and Canada, all with portable equipment. You will not sit in a permanent house waiting for the bite to happen with Scott. He will drill 150 holes a day through 3' ice and make it happen.
I also second the IDO website mentioned earlier. Excellent information for MN and Wis fishing. Scott is an IDO pro-staffer.

Scott is a great guy, etc. and I highly recommend idofishing.com. However, Scott is no longer on IDO's staff. He still visits on occasion though. I believe Scott was afforded some opportunities that required him to not be a staff member over there.
You can't beat idofishing.com for information regarding that neck of the woods.
Edit: I took out the "www" to remove the exact link to IDO. I am on staff over there, but respect this site as well. I think James at IDO would understand.

Go to www.wisconsinwoodsandwaters.com I hope that is the right URL. He does a show every week and has done a lot of winter ice fishing. He probably has some very good guides listed.
