Fish on top of river channel or secondary channel ledges, 20'-30' deep. Use minnows, jigs or minnow jig combo. I usually find early morning best, before the sun gets bright, or cloudy days.
I caught a nice 1 crappie fishing the other day in 12' of water on a jig. A buddy of mine caught 1 the same day in about 14' on a crankbait.
Check your PM cuz.
Seems like the guys at work fish for them in Jan. or Feb. but they are pretty particular to a certain range of current being pulled or they just stay home.
As far as time of year, I usually start about now if crappie fishing is slow. November, especially around Thanksgiving seems to be a good time, and can be good through the winter if weather holds out.
Be prepared to catch some good catfish until water cools below low 50's.
anybody caught any sauger on the lake yet? fished a jig and minny on main lake points and channels
for 7 hours and not one sauger. any help would sure be appreciated.
thanks
Picked up two the week of 17th - 23rd off of long points in 12-14 fow. minnows/jig combo.
