has anybody got ideas?
i built my own boat trailers from scratch and used long leaf springs from old cars. i hung the springs under the axle on one and above on the other. it makes a lot of difference in the height of the boards. you have less spring movement but still plenty and the long leaf springs makes for a very easy ride for the boat. i don't know if you can change the short springs like are on the factory made trailers.
springs under axle and lower bunk boards
I changed the trailer on my jon boat for crappy ramps around here. I put the axle OVER the springs, and flipped it over.....mine had offset axle, meaning axle was 1" different than center "tube". Lowered trailer probably 4-5 inches!
Over spring means axle is closer to trailer..therefore lowering it.
thanks fellas. sounds unanimous.
