Braid or Mono?

What line do yall use spider rigging and longlining? Braid or Mono? I will be fishing the rez so colored line is really not an issue. Any downfalls to using braid?

I use Braid when I know I'm gonna be around alot of stumps but right now, I changed all my reels to that Wally elcheapo line in hi vis yeller and 10 lb test. It's strong enough to pull loose from a stump alot of times and when you have a single rig going, it floats when the fish bite up and keep going. That freaked me out the first time I saw my line all coiled up in the surface, I had no idea I had a fish on

Expensive. Other than that, for either application, have at it.

Again its just a personal preferance thing.....Sat and torch like braid, DD likes braid...I like mono. I was using Wally Marshall High Vis Yellow....It was good line when it was made in USA , but its made in China now and it has some memory to it now. I have switched to Cabelas Proline in high vis yellow( 10 lb)...it is made in Germany and its good stuff...does not kink and is very low memory.

Hi-Vis P-Line is hard to beat if you like mono but it's expensive.

Thanks fellas... I have really like the braid for pulling cranks. I still have some break off but it has saved a few and lasts a long time. Also like that it does not kink up like some mono line. Might as well keep it all the same. Thanks again for the info.

Again, with a short line out braid can and will cost you fish but fishing deeper it's not quite as bad. If you had a short line out, Braid will not give you any stretch and I've had fish pull loose due to that. Even had that problem last fall fishing 7 or 8 feet down. Fish would pull and with no extra stretch, it got off. Least that's my excuse cause that woulda been my biggest fish ever, had to be 18 inches long

Only thing that you had on that was 18" was those neusance Stripes! And if yo poles had any flex you shouldnt blame the line!
