New vise advice ???
Looking at getting a new vise. Have seen a few I liked but most are pretty expensive. I would like to stay under $150 and closer to $100 would be great. One of them I just seen is the Griffin Odyssey Spider. Anyone have any experiance with this vise? They can be bought for around $80-$85 are rotary and has plenty of clearance for the larger in length jigs that I tie. Any other suggestions? I may make a trip to the city to a few fly shops and see some so I can put my hands on them and check them out a little better than just looking at pictures. Anything will be better than my $15 vise I started with. It does not hold to well on the larger hooks I tie.

Best vise judged by other like the Ohio Fly tying board says the Peak is best under $150 and I have sold a good many and everyone like them. I have one too, but I also have a Renzetti Salt Water Traveler and my favorite has to be my Nor-Vise, but it's high cost and really different than any other.

Know an older fella whose been tying prob longer than anyone i know or know of. More or less a fly fisherman. He ties some very intricate stuff and says he doesn't need anything else. But he's a fisherman first and foremost, he's gonna show you fish pics before he shows you his ties.
I'd like to have a better one, but all it would do is cut down on time, b/c you can do everything with a cheap one that you can with an expensive one.... just takes more time. If i'm not fishing, might as well take the time and save the xtra money for gas.
Once I get well off, I may change my mind though!

I have a Griffin Odyssey Spider and I like it. For the money it does all I need.

The Griffin is the one I am leaning towards. Does it hold the larger hooks well? I am sure it will hold them better than what I am using now.

ive tied up to size 1/0 in mine.

Great I tie a lot of 1/0 sickle hooks for personal use. Most guys want a #1 or #2. thanks for all of the input guys. I may try to get to a shop in Kansas City so I can see them in person before I finally decide to buy.
