how do some of yall that tie a wool burger get the wooly in it to make it a puff ball is there a special tool that you use and what kinda material do u use on the wooly part can some one explain or issue a slide show with lots of pic I like using them and would like to make some but not sure how to tie em up and make them look right :eek: :rolleyes:
You tie in the hackle to rear of the hook shank then you palmer it foward and tie it off using you're hand or hackle pliers

Like Skip said Fly Anglers Online. Al Campbell's tying course is excellent and you can print everything off and save it. Lot's of folks who aren't near shops or tying clubs have taken this course and it's excellent.

Hope this helps you out, the bead chain bugger is a go-to pattern of mine for smallmouth - also good for catching gills if tied much smaller.
One more tip Josh is to tie the hackle in the back by the tip first with the inside of the hackle faceing down and wind it clockwise around the body material. I get more action doing it that way. BTW I use Flo fire orange single strand floss as my tying thread and tail material. Thats the way I do it but find a way you like it and are comfortable doing.
