I need help identifying the 3 dark fish. I think that they're Warmouths. They have a body similar, although larger than most bluegill, and a mouth more like a bass than a bluegill.
My grandpa called them Perch. I told them I really wasn't sure what a perch was.
Oh yeah - they were caught on a farm pond in Missouri.

Yep! Those are Warmouth, nice ones too.
Warmouth perch is what I've always heard.
Those are green sunfish not warmouth. Green sunfish have large mouths and are found in farm ponds in shallow water. Their bottom fins typically trimmed in white. Some people do call a greenie a warmouth though.
Don't know about that george. I don't see any white on em anywere. ID pixs need to be closer with fins raised so we can count rays and spines.Quote:

Then again, if both species are present in this pond ... they could be Warmouth/Green Sunfish hybrids (which might explain the scarce stripes on the top two). Or, it could be that the pond is normally muddy (or off color), & that's the reason for the dark coloration & missing dark bands down the sides (on the top two).
Whatever they are ... they look like they're fat & healthy. You won't care what specie they are, once you gett'em clean'd & fried :p .... they'll eat good ;)
