Fishing With a Flasher Soft Water

Hi all. If you have access to one and have not tried it for open water give it a shot. I have been using mine for around 3 weeks now. What a difference it makes. I have the flasher mounted on the bow and the xducer is attached to the trollin motor. Calm water works best. Just a slow troll or drift till the fish show up and then jig um up. Great fun just like on the ice.

I have run a fl-8 since they came out. I wouldn't be without one on the trolling motor,i can follow creek channels and ledges better than my graphs,i've made a believer out of a lot of peoplethat has fished with me. Granite

Love flashers, especially the electromechanical type. The only thing wrong with these type is there is no memory recall. Gotta keep watching it or you miss it. What ever it happens to be.

Most of the HB graphs these days have a Real Time Sonar window which is basically a flasher, just unwound to a straight line. I liked my old HB flasher just fine, but like Cane Pole said, no history. With the RTS you get real time and history.

Some of them also have a Circular Flasher View as well, but you get no history with this View either. Nice thing about the purely electronic flashers is that the update speed is faster than the electromechanical ones plus they can show more sonar return levels if you set them up to. A new feature coming out for some of the Humminbirds is an ice fishing option on the Circular Flasher View.
