I've got interference on the bow HDS10 and Lowrance 520. I'm pretty sure it is trolling motor related. Trolling motor is Minkota Maxxum pro 101. Interference is on 2D sonar. Both are using the transducer that came with the Minkota. Have an A-B switch installed to go back and forth between units. Checked for loose connections under motor head as per Ranger dealer. Does anyone know of an interference kit available? Any other ideas? Thanks.
I read in my DF/FF manual to try and keep the power cord for the FF's away from other electrical sources as much as possible to avoid electrical interference.
do you have both units going at the same time?
No Jason, I have an A-B switch to select which unit I want the sonar but it really doesn't matter even if the other unit is turned completely off there is still interference.
Is it possible that the DF power wires and the TM wires coming from the battery compartment are running parallel to each other down the same side of the boat...??
If you think they are you can try this....
Take a coil of 16 guage wire and run a temporary pair of wires down the center of the boat from the DF to the battery (with an inline 3 amp fuse of course)...this is just a test so you can run the wires on top of the decks and the floor...
If the interference goes away then you know the problem is in the wires from the battery compartment to the front of the boat..
If the interference does not go away then you know the problem is somewhere in the front of the boat...
Thanks RNVINC. I think they are routed in the same piece of conduit. That could very well be the problem. What confuses me is there was no interference for the first couple months and it just happened all the sudden. Your test is a good idea and I'll sure give it a try.
