Hey thanks scapper I joinee the Iboats, hes comeing to my house today with the motor, his only thing he asked me was if he has blockage what to do. I was telling him if it has a stat in it we will leave it out and run the motor whithout it briefly. What if it doesnt have one, what else could be done. Thanks again

Well it shouldn't matter on a johnson because the t-stat is on the backside of the flow to the pee-stream. Even if the stat is plugged you can still have a pee stream. Does it have a pee hole?? Lots of the old ones didn't. You can add one pretty easily though. What is it doing exactly??

I havent seen the motor yet but he concerned with blockage somewhere, he has his kit and we are going to give it a shot, I think it has a pee hole. Hey thankyou scapper for the quick response. I just searched i boats and didnt see much on there for this motor. Worst comes to worst if we cant get it going, we can take it to a mechanic. I took my boat out yesterday and impeller seems good to go.

Most impellors are about the same...its really straight foward...you do one then you should be able to do most any. The only thing that seems to normally change is the shift rod...some come apart..some have to be unbolted...unbolted at top under carbs...or between the midsection and lower unit. I think a 15hp johnny will be in between the mid section and lower unit...it has a jam nut on it. Its really not bad....just be patient...keep track of what and where things go and you'll be fine. Also while off check the lower unit oil. If its white it has water intrusion and will need new seals put it. May as well do it then while the lower unit is off. Then you can just take it to a mech, they put the seals in and you go get it, put your new pump on and put lower back on. If you take the entire engine you'll have another 50-100 bucks in labor for them taking the lower off and putting it back on...plus they would have to take the water pump off again. Just a suggestion.

Hey thanks again put the pump on and he is going to check it when he gets home. Dad did not bring his gas tank to my house. I read the other articles that you sent and gave my printer a workout.

Dad went home today and he called and told me that the motor is running good and it is peeing with a strong stream. I thought I would post the outcome of what we did, Thanks for the info Scrapper.
