OK, boys & girls ....

It's getting closer to "that time of year" again !! All you tightlipped Watts Bar anglers :p ... help 'ol Pappy out, here.

It'll be a few more weeks before I bring the posse down for our Fall Crappie fishing adventure .... so, for right now, I'm just interested in where the Shad schools are and what they're doing. But, of course, as time gets nearer to our arrival, I'm gonna want to know a little more. Specifically ... how deep are you catching them, are they dock oriented or still on deep brush, and in what area of the lake are you catching them. I'm not asking, nor would I ask, where exactly you're catching fish ... I just want an overview of what the fish are doing, and general areas where you're having success. Information on methods being used, colors, bait choices, etc .... that's up to you, as to whether or not you want to provide that information. We generally concentrate our efforts in the White Creek to Piney section of the lake, simply due to the fact that it's where we usually lodge & where we're most familiar with.

I can find water levels, temps, and the TWRA reports .... but, I need my C.c brothers & sisters to add their personal observations to the mix. Reply here, or PM me ... your choice.

I'd really rather stimulate the economy of the local Tenn businesses, but ... if I can't get good info, and the trip isn't very productive ... I'm not sure I can convince the guys to keep returning, and I fear they'll want to go stimulate the economy of ALABAMA :eek: on future trips. :D

can't help you in any way as I only fish Tellico in the Vonore area, but good luck when you come down the VOLUNTEER state

can't help you with Watts Bar but they are pickin up on Fort Loudon. caught a limit by noon pullin cranks yesterday.

Actually, that does help. It tells me that the Crappie/Shad, in the lake above WB, are still on a Summer pattern. ;)

caught a few saturday on chicamauga in 13-15 ft of water on minnows, the water temp in the morning when i started was 75

we limited out on loudon yesterday by 10:30 pulling crankbaits. fish were in about 10-13' of water. temp was 78. had plenty of catfish hitting the cranks too. i havent been to watts bar all year. good luck.

Not being close to the Bar, all I can give you is the pattern that's been good for me this past week. Most of the fish we've found have been in the treetops, with an occasional boathouse is about 16 to 20 fow holding some fish. The shad schools have been cruising in about 16fow with lots of larger, tight lipped fish showing on the sonar, mixed in the schools. Ive seen more shad this year than in recent years. Good luck with the Posse CP, I bet you'll have fun one way or the other.

I fished Chick last weekend and seen a lot of schools of bait fish in about 15 fow. I only had time to fish for about 5 hours and I picked up 3 crappie, 4 cats and some small stripes. I agree the fish seem tight lipped.

I plan on going the next two days.

I and a friend caught around 100 fish in 8-10 feet on minnows 10/7/10 on the Chick. We had lots of fish that would measure. I talked to a friend who fishes the Bar. He caught numbers of 1 1/2 pound fish on 10/9/10 using Road Runner style bait with a Panfish Paddletail style plastic. The fish were 18 -20 ft down in 30 ft of water in the middle of coves and mostly over submerged brush.
