Need Lowrance Help!

I have a LMS 522C. The problem I have is I cannot save my data to another card. When I remove my lake map chip the lake map stays on the DF even with the chip removed. Even when powering down and back up the lake map data is still in the DF WITHOUT a card inserted. And the empty cards (I have 2-4 gig cards that says they have 44% free space and I KNOW they are empty...it's the lake map card which has 44% free space and the DF still remembering and report that free space instead of reading my empty cards.) After I insert a blank card and hit the button to go to the transfer data screen a pop-up comes up telling me to insert a MMC card. I do not believe the lake map data is supposed to stay on the DF after I remove the chip. It should go back to the blaock strle picture screen that the DF came with. Does anyone know what I am going to have to do in order to save my data on another card?

Sounds to me like your unit will have to be sent back to fix that problem, or live with it. It should not retain that data, especially after a power down and back on and its still there, the map that is. Sorry bud. ps.....Im no authority on it however, but I have owned that depth finder and 2 hds units since.Never had that issue with my lms522c.

Have you tried a soft or hard reset? That fixes a lot of stuff.

Something you may want to try..
Go to wally world and buy a 1g SD chip (Not a SDHC card)..Try dumpping your data to that.. Some of the new SD cards are SDHC that may not work.

The SDHC cards will not work in older units. I have a 2G SD card that I bought at Best Buy.

Try to disconnect the power from your unit and leave it disconnected for several minutes. Some electronics must have the power disconnected before they will reset.

I'm going to try everything mentioned. I also heard from Lowrance and was told the reason the unit doesnt reconize the card is because you cannot use a card larger than 1 gig.:rolleyes: If everything else fails I'll do a hard reset.:( Thanks for all your advice guys.
