Anyone fishing big creek by Nowata? Just wondering if they have moved back in there yet.
Me and a friend went to Big Creek yesterday to give them a try. He likes minnows, so I got him some shiners at Jim's Bait in Nowata and we were on the water around 09:00. We were looking for 12 - 14 feet of water, but had a hard time finding any place over 10 in Big Creek! Now I am not a minnow guy and only jig fish, and on our second stop I picked up a BIG one! That was it? We went to another spot, I picked up one and my friend picked up one; both nice very large models, and then nothing? That was the story of the day; run and gun, because we could not find them stacked up anywhere. However, we were fishing as the cold front hit. Very nice fish, just not big numbers. Total catch over 5 hours was 18 large ones.
Is that Jims bait up in town or at the intersection. Curious because I make jigs and plastics. I'd like to know what you guys would like to fish with in that area. I could leave some samples maybe even mail a few out. SHH! word of mouth thing.
That would be Jim's Bait up in town !! We have a wonderful selection of "T-Bone" jigs made by bighook ! Send some samples my way !!! SHHH ! I won't tell anyone :) FISH ON PEOPLE !!!!
You Got it, send some in the mail probably go out today . Thinking about starting up the old bussiness again. I have two new plastic molds on the way. If I start up again I think I'll just stick mostly to Jigs and plastics for crappie and sand bass. T- Bone is doing jigs so I'll send plastics. Got your card tached up by the puter.
U can sure send jigs too ! If you want ! Love a variety ! THANKS :)
In the mail . Put in some hand pour bass stuff (hate trimming that stuff) and some tiny crappie/trout jigs nobody has ever seen before. Probably be there on your slow day monday, give you time to look it over they have a scent on the plastics I've found to be helpful year around. May smell like licorice but thats not all that in it.
On Sunday, Oct 10; me and a friend tried the Bigcreek fishing. I stopped at Jim's bait in Nowata and got my buddy some shiners, but I am jigs only and caught all my fish on a T-BONE jig. I just love to feel that " Thump"! We didn't get started till around 0900, and started hitting some brush piles. It wasn't easy fishing, but it was fun! We probably caught 35 to 40 small ones, and brought home 30 nice keepers. Big Creek isn't a bad place to fish this time of year; good luck everyone.
nice report bighook..think I'll give BigCreek a try later this week.
Fishing today No good. Been in the river. No good. A few fish here and there. Mostly dinks 1keeper crappie and 1 sandy so far.
