We got around 2 and one half inches of rain last night and we got an inch the day before. I am wondering if it rained the same amounts in the area around Lake Shelbyville, (20 miles away). It was so dry around here, the ground could have easily soaked most of the rain here. I haven't went outside to see if we had any flooding yet, the sun is not up. I hope there is not much flooding at Shelbyville to spoil folks Labor Day plans.
If the sun ain't up by 6:22 in Mattoon, then something is wrong. It's definitely up by that time in Sullivan! :confused:Quote:

Shield, I think sun rises about 6:15. It gets light enough to crappie fish about a half hour or so before that. The first light in the horizon can be seen a little after 5 AM. Before it is light enough to crappie fish, I often spend an hour or 2 catfishing. I didn't fish the day I started the thread. Nuff said.
The lake I live on flooded some and it is muddy on the upper part of the lake. I will bet parts of Shelbyville has stained water and there may be some flooding.

Postie, it could be I, or eye :eek: or like in the Navy, ay ay, Sir. Going fishin' at 3AM is usually an I, it is difficult to find a we at that time of day (night).
This thread was started to give Lake Shelbyville Labor Day users a heads up on the possible fishin' conditions. No one has said if it is flooding but after reading LSG's thread, it may be flooded.
the lake level yesterday was at 600.52 so no it is not flooded. But with that said there was 2500 cubic feet of water comming into the lake and they were only letting out 480 cubic feet of water. So it is going to come up some more. the report said shelbyville are had 3.23 inches of rain. A buddy of mine that lives by whitley creek said his rain gauge showed 4+inches of rain. and the river is muddy as of yesterday
