My Debutte Question on C.com

for all of you new guys around here.When I first found crappie.com and saw the jig tying forum this was the first question that I ever asked.Does anyone know how to powder paint one of these 5 oz. flutter jigs,lol.I remember it like it was yesterday.After I looked around and saw all the 1/64,1/80 and even smaller stuff I thought that I was definantly in the wrong place.But now look at what you have all done to me.My true love is still making big saltwater stuff.But,just being on this site and all of these great tiers being so very informative in anything that you ask of them.It was one of the best things that I have ver done.Thank you all.

I've been tying jigs for 4 1/2 months now and it is amazing to look at the first ones I tied. If it weren't for the experienced tyers on here sharing their tips and secrets, My jigs would still look like the first ones. LOL

Glad you guys are benefiting from the board. You guys make good students too which helps and of course the talent not known below the surface, but now getting exposed.

Azslabber - How did you get in to doing saltwater jigs when you live in AZ? I like saltwater stuff, but I grew up fishing the salt in NY.

I came from Pa. 30 years ago and caught a lot of blues and stripers as a kid.Now it is the west coast when I am lucky enough to get there.Not very often though.My family still lives on the East Coast and they always need jigs,lol.Of course I'm the only idiot that could learn how to do it,Ha.

I also caught lots of blues and stripers in my younger days. I used to fish LawnGyland, lol. However, I went to grad school in Alabama, and I have developed a fondness for the Gulf. I also don't get there as often as I would like because I live in Kansas now. I miss the fight of those blues! The bright spot is that we have some good hybrid fishing here.

AZ, you have read my mind. It wasn't long ago that I was selling my reloading equipment for tying gear and I'm glad, beyond belief, that I did. I could do those pinky fingernail groups at 100yds, but so what. If I could do that, so could a monkey. Everyone here, even the new tyers, keep my juices flowing to do something a bit different or new. I thank you one and all for the education and comraderie that we share here.......Tim

i reload too,im still pretty new at it,but i figure i enjoy it,and it will be just one of the many things im into.i love being able to make ammo that shoots good in my guns,and costs me less than buying new ammo.same with jigs,i like being able to make ones that work instead of buying em in a store. :)

That's funny.I reloaded for years.Seems like jig tiers are the kind of guys that take something that they love to do and do everything to make it totally thier own.I mean like by components and do it,or try to do it better then the guy that makes money at doing it,lol.

Some very good info given out on this board. I have learned a lot about tying jigs. Thanks to everyone that post here. :)
