Hey all,
I have a foot controlled trolling motor. The last 2 times I've been out I can feel it slipping. I press down on the pedal and the head turns..but way too easily, I can feel it slip and the motor doesn't turn.
Any suggestions on how to fix this???
Probably just need to adjust the cable tension. On MK, most are located under the foot pedal if you lay it down and look under the top of the pedal where the cable comes into the front. Not sure on a MG though.
Other than that, you might be looking at a stripping gear inside the head.

Hopefully its just a tension adjustment like Wannabe said. However MG is bad about using plastic gears where metal ones should be used.
thanks for the input. I haven't had a chance to play with the TM yet. I'll report what I find.
Pull the top off the head and watch it while you turn it. It will be easy to see what is slipping.

The main shaft is threaded into the motor housing where the prop is and it may have broken free. Loctite will fix this problem easily. If it's not the bottom of the shaft, the top has a gear that is threaded onto the same shaft and may have come loose. Pair of pliers and loctite will also stop this. But this is from my experience with Motorguide trolling motors and the top gear was metal on both. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks..that was it. The bottom of the motor was loose. I threaded it back up about a full turn and it works great now.
Don't be strokin' him. He jes got lucky. LOL.
