For you that know Poinsett where would be a good place to start? I am thinking about the deep point on the west side near the dam. Also considering the old bridge area on the north end. I am not sure of the exact location but my 997 should find it fairly easily. A couple of years ago some folks were wearing the slabs out at night down there.
Last year they were hanging lights on several trees toward the northeast cove. I assumed they just moved back and forth between the lighted trees after it got dark. I haven't seen many slabs come out of Poinsett. My last trip was all shorts.
went today and did pretty well. ended up with 15 keepers and lost 4 at the boat...gotta get a better net. also caught 4 catfish too :).The smallest crappie was bout 11 inches and the biggest was pushing 13-14 inches. those today were some of the biggest I have seen come out of there.
Fishing with minnows bout 10 ft deep in 15 ft of water over submerged treetops.
I have fished poinsett at night a couple of years back but never did real well.
If you can stand the mosquitos you might try the old house or the hog pen. I've never fished poinsett at night, but those are two areas I would try.

where are these spots located? I have never heard of them before.
It's actually the foundation of the old house. And is just past the first boat ramp on the west side of the lake. The hogpen is northeast of the house about 100yds. first group of trees in the middle of the lake. The house is a good place to start in the morning and then move out to the hogpen later on.
How about the houseplace about 2/3 down the lake a little east of mid-lake?? Isn't there a bridge where the old road crosses the main creek out from the north boat ramp??
