Guest onboard charger

I'm changing from 12v to 24v trolling motor . I have a Guest M/N 2611. I have read that I can hook this charger up to 24v. I hooked the neg wire off charger to neg post,what happened is when i touched the pos post with the pos wire off the charger, I got a spark. I went to my 12v starting battery and unhooked the pos wire from charger and had no spark. Now I'm wondering if I have a problem. I havn't tried any more till I get some info. I called Guest and got a recording, left number for call back, but hard to tell when that will be. Any help out there?

Cant answer your question but here's a free bump for ya.:p Maybe somebody with experience has the right answers.

To charge your 2 trolling motor batteries you must disconnect the leads going to your starting battery and connect one set of leads to each trolling motor battery. If you still want to charge the starting battery you will have to go to a 3 bank charger. BTW, if the battery where you caused the spark goes to your motor check your motor's charging system. The diodes in the rectifier do not like sparks.
