I seen a lot of boats trolling Sat. Especially the big flat just up river of Butler Creek.
You guys probably seen me , I was the odd ball casting jigs. I just like to cast.
Am catching a lot of fish but my ratio keeper to small is about 10:1
we were up in that area might have seen you and didn't know it. We try to only keep 10 inch or better that is why we don't have big yeilds.
that would make the crappie alot bigger up this way over a period of time....then they'd be nice size on average .....southern crappie ( in the south ) are thicker than the ones up this way ........on average ...but , I just love to catch and eat CRAPPIE
Crappie are prolific spawners. If there aren't enough predator fish to thin the ranks (along with fishermen), there could be too much competition for the available food, resulting in smaller fish over time. Don't know if that's the situation in the Green River. Your state biologists should know if that's the case. It's extremely difficult to overfish a crappie population, especially in a river or large body of water.
me and brother in law went friday caught 22 keepers on minnows
Just an Update.
Went Friday the 12th fished around Butler but didnt get in the water until 4pm. Fished way past dark and wound up with 3 keepers. Went back Monday with a friend, found some brushpiles and we caught 50 keepers on minnows. Great trip, looks like I will be eating fish this winter after all.
Good Luck!
