I almost never use them on a jig other than for legs, but know some do and some make their tails out of just that stuff. I just like feathers way more than anything else. I am learning to like hair especially very early spring or before spring as I got proof from my self this last spring.
I use them a lot of bugs for flies.
It's just what every you want to do and that is want is great about tying, you can do what ever you want.

i read that using 12 lb test line for legs on your small floating bugs was better than silly legs. havent gotten a chance to fish it yet tho.
I use em on my bugs for bream. I like all the colors they come in too.
I use them all the time. They are killer for crappie and gills.
Use round rubber for legs and flat for tails. For those who havn't tried them as a tail you are missing out on a hot jig tail. I started making my own bass skirts some years back and tied a few crappie jigs. Never used them for a long time but one day out of desperation due to lack of fish I tried one and the crappie and gills were all over it. Now I always have some in my bag of tricks.
I use it for legs on some bluegill jigs myself. Once in a blue moon someone will order rubber tails on a crappie jig...but that is an exception rather than a rule.
Ok, ya'll are givin me more ideas I had never thought bout usin them for the whole skirt....the two that I did yesterday I put krystal flash then some marabou, then cut two pieces of a silicon skirt longer then the marabou.
How would you tie on the chenille when usin them as legs on a jig?
Thanks for all the advice!

I have used the skirt material to make jigs in the past but not as a tail material. Round stuff for legs and flat in the tail for color but not as the entire tail. If oyu want to, check out livingrubber.com . I will be getting a bulk order together hopefully this week. Lots of great skirt colors and descent prices. I don't if they are cheaper than everyone or anyone else though.
I was thinking of ideas to use the round rubber to make a segmented and a striped body. Lots of possibilities for sure.
