Planning a trip up to Nimrod next week. Any current ideas on best place to launch, fish, and what is or isn't biting and how you are catching them will be greatly appreciated. Realize that lake is drawn down and "stumpy". Thanks!

Yea, the only place to put in that I know of is at the end of Anderson Branch. I don't know if you have fished up here before or not so I'll mention that you head towards Carter cove campground but take the paved road to the left at the entrance gate and drive all the way to the dirt lake bed. There will be 2 low water ramps there that everyone are using.
Launch but go across and enter the river channel in between the 2 white PVC pipes to stay in deep enough water to reach the river channel.
The COE has been working real hard putting out new river channel markers so staying in the deeper river channel should not be that hard.
Find the creeks that are entering the river and fish the mouth of them to about 100 yds back in.
Crappie are about 4 to 5 feet deep in about 7 to 9 feet of water. Good sized minnows and jigs tipped with minnows are working pretty well.
I like red jigheads and red minnow hooks. Some of the better tube jig colors that we have had luck with are Red/Chart.,Black/Chart, Pink/Chart., and what we call (Mtn. Dew), Chart. over white with Glitter. I believe that Midsouth Jigs calls it 1000C Chart. Core.
If you just drag some minnows and jigs around in 7 to 10 FOW anywhere you will probably do pretty good.
Haven't been out in a week or so but we caught 2 limits the last time out.:)
Slab - You are correct on the 1000C, it is the Chart. Core. A great color for this time of year.
The Crappie I have seen caught are mostly very small with a few descent ones mixed in. Better watch cause them Catfish and Green Carp will tear up your stuff.;)
Thanks guys, sounds like good advice! See you next week if Bonnie doesn't blow or drown us out. Maybe she will just give us a heat break:)!
