Jighead Weights

Ive been reading about tournament fisherman using up to 3 oz heads. Use them for high speed trolling. Anyone hear of this? or does anyone use these? A guy by the name Ken Riddick

I use 3/4 oz. for trolling for stripers in the deep clear lake we have here.Best in the fall.This is my first with the maribou fins,I have great expectations for it.

said they use it for deep water high speed trolling..seen where he designed the bighead jigs.

They'de be east to paint,lol.3 oz. jighead and a size 6 hook.lol.

Know a guy that used 6 to 8oz bank sinkers at the bottom of the line then stacks a couple of 1/4oz 1/0 jigs up the line for deep fairly fast trolling. Havent heard of anyone using a that size jig though.

I use a 5 oz bank sinker on the bottom of my line and a 2 ft leader tyed above it to push crankbaits in the front of the boat. Never heard of a 3 oz jighead for crappie though. I know this guy sells the 1/4 oz.
Crappie Jigs

There's a retired pro living in Farmerville, LA on Lake D'Arbonne that only uses 1oz jigheads, (spider rig) tips them with a shiner also. Catches a lot of good fish. I tied up several jigs in the 1oz since getting to know him and gota say you for sure catch more quality fish. I've been tying everything the same size as a 1/16 oz, just has a large head. Keeps me from having to put a split shot or bullet weight above my jig to keep it down.
