Lake Barnett
Does anyone know how to fish lake Barnett? I live 20 min from there and cannot afford to travel to other lakes nearly as often as I can Barnett. I have fished the lake several times over the past few years and have little to no luck. I have caught less than a dozen fish in that time and and they were all small. I appreciate any input thank you.

Carefully. While not quite as bad as Conway it has its share of stumps. If I were going to go fish it now, I would focus on the wood cover in the channel bends first. Never tried it but you might could find some suspended fish down by the dam and work on 'em there pullin cranks.
To my knowledge the best crappie fishin there is always early in the year...Feb/Mar.

I have caught a few crappie on Barnett on yo-yos but not many, and I have not crappie fished the lake much. I have not ever heard of anyone doing real good but I know in the spring there seems to be a lot of people there crappie fishing. I have not been there in over a year. Last time I was there was last summer four of us went green carp fishing out of two boats. We fished between the two boat ramps and me and my cousin caught some bass in the grass, the other boat thought the big fish were in deeper water and they fished the deeper water in between the two ramps and wound up catching crappie instead of bass. I think they only caught one or two but keep in mind they were bass fishing. There are some threads on the main forum talking about fishing minnows vertically in standing timber, I think Barnett would be a good lake to try that on.

Thanks for the advice "soswine," and that is a good idea "wish4fish" I will check out the forums on vertical fishing minnows. Does anyone know of another place to fish that is less difficult to learn within a reasonable distance from Beebe? say 30 miles or less.

If I was as close to Barnett as you are I would fish it a lot. Seems like the size has been down there for the past couple of years but you can catch plenty of good eatin size fish there.

Lake Barnett is a VERY HARD lake to fish. My step dad and mom live on that lake right above the dam. Now if your going to fish with minnows. Make sure you stop at the bait shop in front of mosses country store and tell the old man that you want the pink minnows. I don’t know why but they like the little pink ones the best on that lake. Before my step dad got his job with an oil company. We fished it a lot and I would buy the bigger size minnows and he would buy those little pink ones and show me up. We have heard from a lot of people to fish around the bluffs and we have caught some fair mess of fish there. There a shallow cove right there around the bluffs it’s on the opposite side of the bluffs. We watch an older women and her husband tear them up in there. The poor man couldn’t even fish. He would take a crappie off and bait her hook. She would swing it into the water and pull it right back in with what looked like dang nice size crappie. As far as pulling cranks up by the dam I have plans to try that but for some reason the last few weeks life as being so crazy I haven’t even seen the water. But when I make it out there I will let you now how will it worked out. Speaking of the dam looking out my mom back windows there almost always a boat fishing around the big concrete thing(not sure what the real name for it is)that feed the creek behind the dam.. My step dad also use glow in the dark jigs with good luck. I hope some of this helps you. Good luck mrlivesoutdoors
