aerator problem
my aerator stopped workin. i checked the fuses, cleaned my battery connections and evrything else i know. im just gonna replace it i think. i have never worked on one before so i dont know whats going on really. my problem is pretty simple, i need to get it off but cant figure out how. once i get it off i will know how to get it back on but i cant make it that far! i know that it is connnected to a little plastic piece that draws in water from the back of the boat. but i dont know how its connected to it and i cant see good enough to figure it out bc its in a tight spot. give me some help guys, please. heres a pic.

Look on the back of the boat where it comes out and you should see a large plastic nut. Remove it the the pump should pull out from the inside. It may be a bear to break looses due to sealer used to install it. Be sure to use new sealer when installing the new one.

Before I went to all that trouble, I would do some trouble shooting first:
What happens when you turn the aereator on? Do you hear any sounds coming from the unit? If you hear sounds, it might be that you intake is clogged. I would check it and make sur that it is free of obstructions and gunk. If you have a screen on it, remove the screen and clean it. If you simply have ports for intake, run a piece of stiff wire up inside to make sure they arent clogged.
A lot easier to check your intake then to go thru the hassle of busting knuckles to remove aereator and find out that it wasnt the problem.

It looks like it has a removable cartridge. Might want to remove that first. It can be replaced easier than the entire pump.

i just went ahead and took it off, it wasnt hard to do. i found out that the pump is still good and that i have a short in my wires somewhere. called a guy i know and hes gonna come over in the mornin and run new wires for me. thanks for the help. i feel like a idiot of not knowing how to get if off but now i know.
