Keeper crappie
Finally had a successful trip for crappie! I had a couple of hours early Saturday morning before I had to pick up some furniture for a friend and stopped at a small southern tidal creek on the way for a hour. The tidal water was low and was going out at 7 am and it was shady with some overhead tree cover. I threw a small Fox spinner by a downed tree fall and began catching beautiful thickbodied crappie from 9-12 inches. This was a pleasant surprise and the best luck I have had in a couple years! I creeled a dozen with a couple back to back pickeral in the mix that bent my spinner and which were carefully released. A couple of nice bluegill were in the mix too but no bass. After an hour the bite slowed, the slabs were iced and I was off to the furniture store. Filleted I had great pan fry last night with the Mrs. and two bags of fillets put into the freezer for the days which I know will come which will not be as successful. Hope you all had a great weekend.

I haven't made it out in so long......well not freshwater anyway. I amused myself with some White Perch fishing on the Magothy Friday evening, but I'd much rather be bass and crappie fishing. Sounds like you had an awesome day....got me jealous.
