I just installed a Dual Pro from Bass Pro, Mod RS3 18 amp, 3, six amp banks, on board charger. All seemed to go well, installed according to the instructions, but after one hour of charging the charger seems very hot to the touch. Is this normal?

Yep. Uncomfortable but not hot enough to burn is about normal. There's a lot of wasted power in a charger, which means heat.
mine gets warm, I always leave the back flap up mine is maby 3 years old and still gets as hot today as 3 years ago.
I agree - they get pretty warm. We mounted ours on a UHMW plate instead of directly on the marine carpet in one of the back compartments. We also cut a 2" vents plate into the side of the compartment to be safe.
I stacked about 5 washers between the charger and the bulkhead it's mounted to to help with heat dissapation, and lift the hatch and prop it open a few inches to vent. They do get warm.
Thanks Skeet. I'll try those washers.
Like mobowhunter, I was thinking of having my son fix me up some kind of plate to mount it on but I think the washers are a great idea and its something I can do! Thanks Skeet.....b49
