im pretty sure thats a cracker, not a bluegill. you can see the red edge on the gill flap(thats why they are also called redear sunfish). but in this case the fish looks like it came out of muddy or stained water so the mark is orange not red, either way im pretty sure thats a shellcracker. and if that were a 2.5 bluegill it would be round like a frying pan, not long and sleek like a shellcracker. but either way its a real nice fish. just for comparrison, heres a 11 incher i caught a few weeks ago.

Female redear.
KY are you the self-appointed cheerleader for KY Lake or do you have a financial interest in seeing every Tom, Dick and Harry come down to experience the unrealistic expectations you are so famous for?
I never knew telling the truth and posting factual articles was considerd unrealistic. LOL
KY Lake can be a feast or a famine depending on where you go, and what time of year it is.
You may go out and catch 100 crappie, or you may go out and be lucky to catch 20.
I always tell people that because it is true.:)
The article you posted was BS because the fish pictured is not a bluegill, it is a redear. If you weren't so busy trying to cheerlead for who knows why, you might check your facts before you copy and paste such.
Lets talk about fish and not other fishermen
