Rainbow trout still available on E.S.
Hi gang:
I had Friday off last week with beautiful weather so I headed out around 7 am. Stopped at a millpond in Do. county trying for crappie but nothing biting there. Drove over to Smithville and saw the terrible moss growing all over so I headed to Tuckahoe. I had some nightcrawlers but no minnows since the bait shop was not open when I left. I also tried twisters, jigs, beetle spins and a blue fox spinner. I was somewhat surprised that I was the only one at the spillway on a very pleasant day. My first fish was a fiesty jumping rainbow about 9 inches which I released. Next I caught a channel cat of 16 inches. This alternated for the next hour with a few bluegill in the mix. Total catch and release was 6 rainbow and 5 channel cats. No crappie. It was an exceptionally pleasant day dispite no crappie. If anyone wants to catch some rainbow trout they are still available there. I have caught them downstream in deep pools into June in the past. Good luck to all.
