Question?

Will gills and crackers bed in areas where mill foil and hydrilla are pretty thick or do they look for more "open" areas?

I have found them in the edges around aquatic plants and sometimes in the middle of them. It provides cover and food cause the eat the insects and snails on the plants.

I noticed the other day that when I casted to where one was in the grass, the bait would not fall 4-5" and it was taken. I caught plenty, they were just all small. I never did find a bed of good ones.

I will keep trying though. Learning something new every time I go out on the lake over here.

Look for openings in the grass, they will bed up in there. Grass can be a great place for them to bed, typically if your on a lake that gets overgrown.

they will bed in the more open areas because of the sun warming effects.
