I know this will sound like a rookie question, but, hey, with less than a year back fishing, I'm still a rookie, right. Do you use them? If so, do you use an anchor-mate? If so, is it electric? For my Tracker 175 pro crappie, what weight? What style? Front and back? Saw a Bass Pro brand electric today for $99.00. The Minn Kota was $219.00 for same specs. Comments please. I do not want to fill the boat up with stuff just to have stuff. Thanks.
What do you need with a anchor if you are trollin or pullin cranks?
the only time you need an anchor on the rez is for fishing below the spillway. If you need some anchors, get a load of tire weights and bring them to me and I will make you 2 anchors for free...You put a 1" rope on them and you can pull them up yourself. I have 2 GIANT anchors and never use them.
There were a couple times this past year that I wanted to stay in one place and the TM was working my right leg off. I've seen some others using them.Quote:

I use a anchor when I get ready to troll. I anchor down untill I get all my rods in place then I drop the lines down to desired depth and raise the anchor and go. I also anchor front and rear when bream fishing. I use a MinKota DeckHand DH40 electric anchor on the front and have a manual Anchor Mate on the back. I use a 20 pound river anchor on both systems. I love the electric one.... (I have arthur real bad in both my shoulders). My plans are later on to put a electric one on the back.
I also like to anchor sometimes when minnow fishing for crappie with a slip cork and a spinning rod.
The ones that nightstalk anchor out to fish also.
i like to do the same thing. i use a metal railroad tie and its flat so it doesnt hardly take up room in my live well. holds like a spike and couldnt be happier.
i seen this on another forum go to a local brake shop and ask them for some old worn rotors buy you some spray paint and paint them and all your out is paint and r0peQuote:
