The slow-tolling bite has been awesome the last week on Lake Eufaula. We had 70 keepers yesterday and caught 60 of those fish spider-rigging ledges, points and channell break-lines.20-25 fish were btween 12 -14.5 inches. The slow trolling bite will be very good until the water gets above 85 degrees! Good fishing! EB
Thanks for the good report Brian, you're tearin them up. I've got to go with you someday and will try to do so before winter. I wish I could go sooner, say before the water temp does exceed 85 degrees, but I'm too tied up for now.

Eufaula Boy great report! I read in a book years ago that 10 precent of the fishermen catch 90 precent of the fish. For sure you are in the top 10 precent. So when I grow up I want to be in that 10 precent group. My problen is I'm 77 now so I better learn fast. By the way what is your go to bait? And when?
Brian, were you fishing the North end or down by Crowder?
Like Monnowtime, I'd like to know your fav bait, although I think I know the answer to that one...
What effects do you think the muddy water has on the bite on the North end?
I was fishing on the south end. Jig tipped with a minnow is my go to bait! I think the fish on the north end are more nomadic. I think they move in and out of places frequently. I am going to experiment this summer with some different trolling techniques to prove my theory. I am planning to power-troll some, push and pull crank-baits, and long-line jigs. I believe up there it is all about finding the shad, and fishing the right colors! I am also going to refine a summer night fishing pattern on the clearer end of the lake so I can guide some trips for those who can't stand the sumer heat! EB
Hey EF.....I keep reading about a jig tipped with minnow....does that require a special jig......is that a live minnow or plastic???......do you hook the minnow in the mouth....or how...most of the water I fish is very shallow (5-10 ft) and/or has lots of trees or stumps so trolling is out of the question but some bayous are deeper and I know the sacs go there when it warms up......I am thing about rigging up a spinning rod and reeling slowly to imitate trolling.....what do you think.....Thanks...Quote:

Hey EB do you spider rig at night also? If so is there any change up to it?
Yes I have before. I have spidered at night from Jan.-June. The first night we ever tried it it was 25 degrees and the first fish we caught was 3 feet deep right on top of the rip-rap. The reason i started going at night is because that was the only time i could fish. I haven't tried slow trolling during the summer. It is more anchored up with lights and fishing the theromacline. But that pattern is still in the works. I also haven't had much sucess when the water in murky, it has to have some clearity to it for me! there are to time I struggle to catch crappie. One is night time when the water is muddy, the other is up the creek when it is running! EB
