thread queation
Is anyone having problems with Danville's
Fly Master Plus breaking or is just me? I've been using the "green lable" Danville's for years with no problem-bought the "silver lable" Plus Danville's and starting breaking thread immediately. It is almost as if the Plus thread is not actually 210 denier.

I have a roll of pink that I just started using that has broke twice on the same jig,the rest of them,no problem for me anyways.

I have been using pretty much all Danville, I use 210, 140, and 70. I have never had any break on me, which actually surprised me, as I use it pretty heavy handedly. So either I have just been lucky with the thread, or possibly there is another reason yours is breaking? Bad roll? Bad bobbin? Catching thread on hook point? I am not suggesting you are doing something wrong, just shooting some ideas out there. Is it just one roll you are having trouble with?

I switched to U.T.C.6140 deneir a long time ago. I tried to use some Danville 140 a while back and had to be real carefull because of breakage. Either one is overrated or the othe underrated. ?????? Illinoisgiller

I use them all, but prefer the 210 flat waxed over the plus (I do use some plus though)and I do think the green label is 210 and silver is 140 so the green is going to be a lot stronger, but the 140 stuff should work well too.
Just did a re-look for you and the silver has both 210 & 140. I think all the green I have is the Flat Waxed and not the Fly Master Plus.
I do use some Ultra thread in 140 too if I can't find the color I want in the Danville 210. I even use some 6/0 for color if need be and I have some in Uni I use for a couple colors.

the problem i have is only on the 210 is the white....the actual bobbin itself breaks on 1 side....had 4 rolls to break in the past 3 wks......but its only the white

Check the edges of your spools of thread!!!! sometimes the slit they put in it to hold the thread gets beat up and it will slice thread REAL QUICK and it's not just Danvilles either. A smoothing emory board will take care of spots like this (The wife don't know I took the board and won't).
Also check your bobbins, I dropped one of my ceramic ones and busted the insert and the breakline was so fine didn't see it but the thread kept breaking.
couple more options to check.
