Humminbird 597ci
Anyone use a Humminbird 587 or 597 sonar/gps combo? Looking for something for the console of my little Champion Mean 16. Understand that it comes with a transom mount "skimmer" type transducer but that Humminbird has a transducer exchange program so that you can swap it for a "thru the hull" unit. How does this work? Is it done by the retailer?
How is the GPS accuracy on the 500 series?
Thanks,
Mark

The Humminbird transducer exchange is done thru Humminbird. You get your unit, call Humminbird for an authorization number, send your transducer to them and they send you the transducer you want. I did mine a little differently since I'm pretty impatient and didn't want to wait 2 weeks. I called Humminbird and told them I wanted to BUY the different transducer and then get credit for my returned transducer that came with my 788C. That sped things up buy tied up my $$ for a few days.

The 500 series units use the same GPS Receivers that the 700, 800, 900, and 1100 series units do, so you should get pretty good accuracy. CEP for these is 1.5 meters or about 4.9 feet.
