I just use bank sinkers on my jugs.

what size of bank weight do u use?

1 oz. I am not trying to anchor my jugs down....just some weight to keep the line straight. Where I jug there is current but its not a strong current.

I use a 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz egg sinker just slide it up the line and loop the line thru it for mono line and if I use nylon line I just tie a knot in the line about ten inches above the hook and it works great!

Most of your decoy strap weights are gonna be 4oz. or bigger, so in my opinion that is probably too much. But in my jug fishing experience, I have used weighted lines and non weighted lines, and I have had better luck with no weight. Of course, it depends how heavy your bait is, and how you are using them.

C Josh: I do a lot of jugging and I have found that a no weight line does better than a weighted line. Most of the water I fish is 7 to 10 feet. I set my jugs at 5 feet and have good success. I put out between 30 and 50 at a time and never come home empty handed.
Best bait on our Caddo Lake is Hot Dogs second is Zote Soap. Mix some garlic powder on those hot dogs and the fish wil go crazy.
