a mothers day story
it was 8 years ago had my first bass boat for 1 year it was kinda old and loud but it was mine.seemed like i always had to have the bilge pump on.the day before mothers day i found the mother load of slab crappies, way back in the trees ,well coming out i got stuck on a stump, i mean stuck the boat was side ways ,i had to get in the water to get it off the stump.after an hour battle it was free ,first thing that came to mind cant wait for tommorrow.the wife and kids were going to be with her dad on mothers day.wake up mothers day and out the door i go get to crows creek ramp not one other truck there.white caps on the lake that looked higher than my boat ,no problem im not going far ,big problem (come to find out the whole bottom of the boat looked like a spider web) i made it about 300 yards from the ramp ,the white caps were hitting me in the face ,the back of the boat was going down quickly.when i tried to turn around the problems started the boat was full of water and the motor was under water and i was taking a beating from the wind and white caps about the time i grabbed all the lifejackets i could my jig box ,pole and map ,over the boat went now im about 100 yards from the ramp with 5 lifejackets ,my stuff and floating by my boat looking at my upside down boat floating right to the ramp.let go of my stuff swim to the ramp run to the truck grab some rope swim back out tied it on swam back to the ramp tied rope to ramp and pulled in to the dock just like i was getting ready to load up but the boat was upside down.well by this time i had 20 people watching me ,2 rangers the dude at the box left his post to come and watch and here comes the lady water patrol across the lake in her boat(i always had a thing for her)tried to flip the boat for an hour when lady water patrol asked me to stop she was afraid i was going to get crushed.went back next day with buddys.one loked at me and said 500 dollars right now SOLD.my wife said that was the best mothers day gift she could ever get.she hated that boat.
