I just changed out my mechanical steer to hydraulic. I wnt with the Baystar system. Shop around to find the best price. I think I gave $400+ for mine. Make sure it will fit your boat. Install is pretty simple.
Depends on which system you need. The Baystar system is for boats with motors up to 150hp. Over 150hp, use the SeaStar system. SeaStar runs around $800 - $1000.
Changing them over is no big deal,I know the baystar is rated for 150HP but I put one on a 150 fourstroke and did not see much difference, called teleflex and they said they would have recommended the seastar unit,so I said what am I going to do with the baystar couldnt take it back so I worked out a deal with them and told them they need to rerate there baystar units for small motors.90HP and below, the seastar unit does what you would exspect it to do.
any body ever seen the hydraulic steer for a tiller motor what somethig like that cost and do you convert a tiller motor or have to start with a nontiller
