What ever happened to

Lake Wappanocca. The locals here fished it years ago, but I haven't heard of anyone around here fishing it lately.

Well about 5 years or so ago they drained it and did some work to the bottom.

I think they broke the dirt in the bottom and it wasn't holding water well, I don't think it ever got back up to a decent level.

I do some deer hunting over there and this past year the water was a little higher.

I need to check on it, maybe someone on here will know.

It's been a over 5 years since they drained it the first time. They did some culvert work and other stuff including planting the lake bed with millett. If I remember right they siened it too on the first draw down. Tried to refill it but had problems holding water and did some re-work and has never been right since. Really screwed up a good fishin hole but they will tell you it is a waterfowl rest area first.

i remember me and my dad fishing it when i was a kid and catching coolers full of brim and slab crappie! i wish they would have left it alone
