laws/regs on state lakes?

did some looking around online before my planned fishing trip tomorrow/sunday and im seeing a stupid amount of regulations to fish state lakes. Am i reading this correctly??

i cant bring my gun, i cant bring any beer, i have to buy a launching permit, i have to buy a fishing permit and the normal freshwater fishing license??

i hoping im just reading this wrong, otherwise, i feel sorry for the fishermen in this state that have to put up with that much BS!

That is for state lakes, and doesn't apply to the reservoirs. Although, the laws regarding the COE reservoirs ( Arkabutla, Sardis, Enid, Grenada ) are similar, you don't have to buy a fishing permit, fishing liscense is all that is required. There is a boat launch fee, and alcohol and firearms are prohibited. Don't know about Ross Barnett reservoir though, it's not a COE or state lake, I don't think.

Yep on a state lake or a state park you have to pay a fee to fish as well as launch the boat. Guns and achohol are not allowed. But, I do carry a gun everywhere I go....but no one knows it because I keep it out of sight. I have friends that take their beer but they do not show it off...they wrap the can with a huggie or pour it in a cup or something. As long as you behave with it you should be OK.

i saw lake ross barnett on there and assumed that covered the rez but i see thats a different lake. OK so i already have my license bought for sunday, if thats all i need to hit the rez then thats what i will do. whats the normal deal on the rez as far as beer or firearm possession and extra BS goes?

Teejay you can bring anything you want, but if you get caught with certain things they'll charge you some "additional fees".;)

Dude there are no rules on Ross Barnett rez but LAKE ROSS BARNETT is a different body of water. On the REZ you can have a cold beer if you want. You can hunt on the lake too, just in certain areas so firearms are a GO GO GO if you want to bring them...To get a BUI in this state you have to have a 25HP or greater motor FYI.

My drinks and guns go everywhere with me. State parks and COE rezs will post a sign saying NO, but I have them. I don't carry the drinks on the water, but I'm with weapon always. Drinks are for later at the camp site. Rangers don't care that much as long as you don't post it, or load in campgrounds. Posting is like having a package sitting on the table, or can/bottle in view. A friend got busted by placing a 12 pack box on a fire pit that was cold. Empting a fresh filled cooler was his fine.

thanks guys. i ended up passing on the rez, i checked it out again sunday and it didnt look too hot nor did it smell all that pleasant. i had to end up in baton rouge sunday night anyways so i headed south and hit lake Tangipahoa at the state park outside of McComb. its a really nice looking park and a pretty nice lake. water wasnt too murky. couldnt ask for better weather, except for the wind. due to the wind/waves i stayed fishing on the edge and turned up a few bream. talked to a few guys before putting in who said they hadnt talked to anyone who had been doing any good fishing so getting a few bream was fine for me. when i was about to go the wind was really bad and had some nasty whitecaps and waves so i got across as fast as possible(i was in a kayak by the way) and after that i was too tired and it was to windy to do anything else. either way it was a good day. now im in baton rouge and going to do some target practice..

How does Baton Rouge smell?

Do they give you a DUH (Drinking while under-[horse]powered) if you only have a 15 HP outboard?:D:D
