Oologah Spawn
Those of us who fight the high and low water of Oologah each year during the spawn have been blessed this year with that rare spring of somewhat steady water levels. It sure is nice to see some really great catches for a change! Our luck continues by having just a light amount of rain to the north of us with the recent storms. Even if the level does rise a bit, it will not be enough to effect the amount of Crappie scouring the banks right now. Almost every area is seeing near record crowds. I would encourage anyone wanting to catch a mess to try their hand at night fishing. Peaceful as can be, I love the night bite! Tight lines to all and good luck!

I think that is a good idea as the boat ramp at Talala creek is very crowded. It took us about 30 minutes wating in line to get loaded last night. It was worth it, I took the wife out last night and she caught 27 nice keepers in 3 hours.

I am thinking about going next Tuesday to Talala Creek. I am hoping they will still be spawning by then and not all spawned out.

Some of the females were spawned out while others still had eggs. This was on the 8 or so females caught yesterday (Sunday, April 25). I think we still have another week at least. It may not be as good as it has been but it should still be good. Even then we should just move to deeper water.

Can anyone tell me a good spot to bank fish? My Dad use to know all the good places & he would take me & my sister, but he has passed away & we would like to know a place to take our sons. Thanks & good fishin!!!

On Oologah Lake, the Winganon Bridge area is a preety good place.

The rain has them moved deeper. I've been twice this week and have been coming up with dinks in the usual spots. My next trip, I'll be testing some deeper brush.
