Where are the specs schooling on these lakes any clues???
Last weekend was the last time I went fishing. The crappie were near deep water but they were hanging out over a 12 and 17 foot bottom, not far from there spawning flats. They did not want to bite,I could only get one to bite before I moved on to catching bluegill in the shallows.Good luck!!!
I fish Belleville Lake 4 times a week and the specks are always suspended in deep water under the Belleville Rd bridge. Also try the north bay behind Bayshore Apts. by the docks. It's only about two ft of water but 2 weeks ago, I landed 70 specks n about 2 hrs. As for Ford Lake, try the old sunken bridge outside of the Ford Lake Park.
Thanks for the info!!
are there any fall crappie and i heard the under the bridge road bridge is good for crappie (many silver bass there too) is that right? by round haus which sells minnows?
I've only fished it a hand full of times however I always found them under or near the bridge for Belleville Rd. There are actually two bridges there and the fish seem to hang out by the pilelons. I see a ton of bank fisherman in that area and most of them do pretty well. As for ford lake, the old sunken bridge (as mentioned above) is the best spot I know of on that lake.
Most guys from shore fish with a slip float and minnow setup. If you are in a boat, vertical jigging right next to the pilelons is the best bet. Don't be afraid to venture away from the bridges a little bit. That area has quite a bit of gravel and I've seen guys catching crappies from shore while throwing bladed jigs like beetle spins or road runners.
i see but they banned fishing from the bridges off bellevill road.
what about that fishing pier by haywards?
They won't let you fish under the bridge anymore? I used to see a lot of people fishing under them.
I suspect the fishing pier might be okay if there are not many people making commotion however i think the water out front is pretty deep. Still worth a try. Minnow and a slip float might be in order
