Head Weight!!!

Are there any other weights you guys use for tying jigs that fall between these weights? From largest to smallest......

1/16---1/24---1/32---1/48---1/64---1/80---1/100---1/124....

Yeah because most do really weigh what they say they do. Never had a 1/16 actually weigh 1/16. Now the smaller ones like my 1/64 and 1/80 actually do weigh what they are supposed to. There are so many factors going into the weight it is unimportant IMHO and more the size is more likely to matter as to what it's called. Things like other metals included with lead make a difference and who knows what 100% lead would weigh poured in a 1/16 oz. mold?

Just weighed one of my 1/16 and it is actually .055 and 1/16 is .0625

I think Blakemore is more off on their 1/16 that any I have seen and is close to a 1/8 than 1/16. The Blakemore 1/16 head weighs .10 without blade and ring and their 1/8 is .125 with blade and ring, but .10 without (just like the 1/16). Their 1/32 (.03125) is close at .035 without blade and ring.

I tie a lot of 1/72oz craw tail jigs from Flatfish.

I started the weigh game way back when I first got into pouring and now don't worry about it. Making it too technical takes all the fun out of it.

Fatman is right, just pour or tie what ever it is. That is why I posted the things I did, because it makes no difference if something is in between or not. After all what is the real difference in 1/16 and 1/20 when all of them are off anyway, LOL!

I have a 1/12 phatboy jig that was custom made and a 1/60 minnowhead,custom as well.Hardly any mold actually weigh exactly what the mold says.My pillhead 1/32 actually weighs 1/22 and the 1/16 weighs 1/10. Had a Hilts 1/32 mold weigh 1/24.Generally weights are a lot closer than that.

you or never going to get the true weight pouring lead yourself I never worried about it when I was pouring lead. Which we haven't done for over 10 years now. We have over 25 molds. It was much cheaper for me to buy heads.
