If you just want to "catch some fish" ...
this report is very encouraging : » Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report
And, if you go ... and you do catch some Crappie .... PLEASE, take some home with you !! Forget that they aren't 2lb Slabs ... there's a couple of "fish sticks" on those 8-9" Crappie :p ... and you'll be doing the lake a big favor, by removing some of them.
Remember - on Cedar Creek Lake :
Possession or use of shad for bait is prohibited.
Largemouth Bass: 20-inch minimum size limit, 1 fish daily limit.
Crappie: 30 fish daily creel limit, no minimum size limit.
Bluegill: no size or creel limit
Redear Sunfish (shellcracker): 20 fish daily creel limit
Channel Catfish: No daily creel limit, 12-inch minimum size limit.
Bank fishing is limited, but available ... be sure & wear some insect repellant, because there are lots of chiggars & ticks in the grass/foliage surrounding the lake ;)

Yeah, Larry .... your're right
... it never panned out to be the Crappie lake they wanted it to be. Lots of Crappie, but they never grew much. That's why they took the size limit off & upped the creel to 30/day :p
It's got potential, but it may be a few years. Now, on the other hand .. the original idea for the lake ... it being managed for trophy Bass, has worked out quite well. I've heard of a 9lb'r having been caught from there ... and it's not unusual to hear about 6's & 7's being caught, regularly.
If you get there when the Crappie are spawning, you can catch them right & left ... otherwise, you have to hunt a bit for them. Once you find a tree, or a spot where they're schooled up on .... you can usually catch them for hours on end. And there's some good sized Bluegill & Shellcrackers in there, too, and they're alot easier to catch fishing from the bank, than the Crappie are ;)
