NIght Fishing with Lights during the Spawn?

Just wondering if anyone has tried fishing at night lately with submersible lights? I know that Icatch Cartags does a lot of night/light fishing but I don't know if he is doing it this time of year? Seems to me it should work as these fish go in and out with the cold fronts and are back in deeper water. Anyone have some experience to share or recent attempts?

I am wondering the same thing. I was planning on going tonight and sitting on a deep pier over a bunch of brush I sunk. I was just going to use a floating crappie light and float some minnows by it. Hope somebody answers before I go this afternoon.

You can night fish year round. I use the same set up all the time while night fishing. This time of year you won't pull as much bait to your underwater light but if you know where the crappie are spawning set up in 20 to 30' of water, set out the lights and try different depths until you catch a few.
I have been longlining this spring but going tonight to see how the bite is. Good luck.

Bob the last two times we went last week they were scattered but we did manage 18 one night & 12 monday night. We were fishing with minnows about 7 to 12 foot deep. Talked with a buddy today he said he caught a few in the stumps at 12 foot fishing with jigs. It should only get better from here on.:) Tags.

The crappie bite was slow last night on Lake Greenwood in SC. Did catch 3 small crappie. The white perch and channel cats moved in on us. Was able to pull in some bait to the light.
Two of the other lake close to me were nightstalked Tuesday night with only 8 caught on lake Russell and 30 caught on lake Secession.
I fished yesterday morning on lake Hartwell and the fish are spawning there. The big girls are holding in 10' depths tight to brush and running up into 2 to 4' depths dropping their eggs in grass and what timber they can find. The males have turned real black, so it's on.

I fished last night on Guntersville lake, near Guntersville. We used a submersible light and, yes it works this time of year. We caught alot of different types of fish, but managed 10 crappie in 4 hours, 1 nice bass, 1 big cat, drum, 1 gar even, (first) and a couple ole stripe. Point to all that is, you will bring everything in.lol We was only going to keep real nice ones but my buddy kept one dink I think so he could say he had more than me.lol We left just b4 midnight, but the bite was just getting on then but we had to get home. :D

I went to logan martin wednesday and took my floating crappie light. I sat in about 10 feet of water over some brush I sank this past Christmas. I caught 1 small crappie in about 2.5 hours.

Maybe I was fishing in to deep of water....maybe the brush is too new...maybe they just had lock jaw... This is the 3rd time I have taken out live minnows and that crappie light with minimal success. Any suggestions?
