Humminbirg Question
I recently installed a 365i with the transducer at the rear of the boat. Is it normal when the boat is out of the water, say in the garage, for the transducer to make a ticking sound when the unit is powered ON? I assume it is the sonar pulse, but just wanted to make sure because I have a Matrix 17 on the front and it does not make this sound.
I have the matrix 17, which I know has been discontinued. Are there any software updates for this unit? I have never upgraded the software on this unit and it is approx. 5 years old.

The ticking is the sonar pulses being generated by the transducer. It's usually louder out of the water if the unit is on auto, because the unit increases the gain to try to get a return. Worry if it stops.

Thanks CatFan. I thought that was probably the case but just wanted to make sure.

If you have never updated the mat 17 it will have an update

Do they have them on the humminbird website or do they have to send it to you?
-
Updates for even the older Matrix units are still on the Humminbird web site Omen.

Thanks Greg. Do you have to register to get the updates? I don't have a problem doing that but just curious if it is necessary.
