Transducer question
I hit a stick last week with my Lowrance HDS5 transducer and it has not read correctly since. It would give me a bottom reading but it would not show any fish marks. Has anyone ever had a transducer go bad? I replaced it this afternoon but I can not put it in the water to check it out until Thursday or Friday.

If the transducer was pushed upwards then reseat with transducer parallel to the bottom. I would wipe the bottom of transducer to rid any crud.

Thanks for the input ragged edge. I guess no one else has ever had a transducer go bad.

Mine was a humminbird but mine quit working on a trip to Eufaula last year....was working fine in one cove, moved down to Rood Creek and it never worked right again....out of warranty so I had to replace it....I'd look at it and see if there is anything "visible" then go to dealing with Lowrance on why it quit.....good luck with it....

Thanks AUTiger. I installed a new one that came as an extra with my boat because the guy I got it from put a puck type transducer on the trolling motor. The new one seems to have fixed the problem. I am going to contact Lowrance about the bad one.

Chances are , its where the cable enters the ducer puck, I have had a few do that on the trolling motor

Turn the unit on and move the cable at the transducer, you should hear the ducer clicking.
