Man there ain't nothing wrong with that.
I don't know if it will work, but it looks good.
Oh, and I have serious shop envy going on here.
It will work. You can mount a Humminbird GPS Antenna close to the unit and you will not have a problem.
thanks guys will try this weekend.
I think it'll work fine there Wilbur if you're careful not to get your body in the way also. Just curious...why didn't you come through the center of the puck at the top of the riser pipe and stash the extra cable inside the riser pipe? A small exit hole in the pipe where it'll look good and it's cleaner with no wire ties on the OD. I like the gear in that shop....you're fixed up! ;)
Joby, will that external antenna take care of the "slow" reaction time I see on my 798SI? Thats really the only complaint I have on that unit. I love it. Thanks
Kman,
Is that a 798 with the internal GPS Receiver (798ci)? If so than the internal GPS Receiver is capable of this but you have to be running the latest 4.780 version software in it. Even if it were an external GPS Receiver you would still need to be running this software to see the faster GPS Refresh rate.
I did the upgrade as soon as it came out. It did NOTHING for the GPS "response time" whatsoever. NADA.
Kman,
Do you have the internal or external GPS version of the 798?
If external do you have any other accessories connected to the unit (WeatherSense, InterLink,...)?
